With „Targa!“ Jackmate makes his debut on Milnor Modern and refreshes with a light-footed and charming 12" that is simultaneously thrilling, intricate and melodic. Best known for various releases on Resopal, Morris/Audio and his own Philpot imprint, this EP reflects not only his singular and open-minded approach to minimal techno and further experiments, it also features a dry yet tripping sound full of intriguing emotional depth and soothing subtlety.
As usual the a-side features the more driving face of the EP, starting with slowly evolving and meticulously constructed beat patterns and ending up in a hypnotic blend of head nodding beats, lush effects and bleepy sound fragments. Like the title already reveals, „Lullaby“ follows on the flipside with a sparse blend of subtle rhythm structures, lovingly twisting effects and charming tunes creating a mellow almost meditative mood. The closing track follows in a similar vein while stripping the stumbling beat patterns to their bare bones and adding gently sweeping synth lines to a truly lightweight arrangement. An amazingly adorable and addictive release for dark and intimate club floors and home listening pleasure.
