Chic Miniature - Conexión Califa (12")
label . raum...musik
release date . october 2005
Chic Miniature is the new project by Montréals Guillaume C. Dumont (one half of Egg and Luci - best known for their releases on Karat and Mutec_rec) and Ernesto Ferreyra; who beautifully craft their sounds of a wide variety of influences to create their own distinct and unique aesthetic. The debut release on Frankfurt's Raum...musik imprint enchants with marvelous grooves that create effective bluesy moods on the slower parts and funky ease on the up-tempo pieces - all covered by that subtle sense of humor that we already know from Guillaume's previous collaborations.

Starting track "Wiskey Nene" feels like a slightly paranoid drone discovering the spooky depth of a shady dancefloor. Head-nodding beats and densely organized microscopic elements of abstract clicks and bleeps melting with ominous vocals creating a dubious and haunting atmosphere."Kamikaz Video Game" on the flipside continues as a spooky dream - similar in mood and feel - but designed to explore a further, obvious attitude of repetition lively emphasized by bell-like tunes and instrumental virtuosity.
"Ruta 36" is a beautyful organic masterpiece - full of emotive warmth and melodic tenderness - filling the headspace with a full serving of groovy Funk and breaks that make you smile. A 12" of great charm and atmosphere that approaches the genre with a great deal of sophistication and an unmistakable sound. -- Recommended!

Spot on...spot on.
I really like this release too, 'Wiskey Nene ? Featuring Vic Arpegio' ass wiggling funk! MMM tasty, i still can't stop playing Luci's 'my dry valentine' along with 'mullet is in da house' and eggs 'checkpoint' both on mutek.
:-) I realized my mistake soon after I sent that. I did mean 'raum'.
Regardless, I have bought more records from traumschallplatten and raum in the past year than in prior years. They're both bringing their A-game lately.
Hehe, you are really fast... :)
Glad you like it as I do, but it seems you mixed up Frakfurt's Raum...musik with Traumschallplatten from Cologne.
Oops... I meant to say "raum"
:-)
Really nice release! B1 and B2 are my favorites. I'm not as fond of the clicky microsampled sounds of the A1 cut, but the vocal samples work well. It seems as if click house music market is really oversaturated, so I'll buy this one because of the b side.
Traum has really been back on their game this year. I hope they keep it up.
yeah! really like this one ... sounds like a great project. interesting and unique style. keep on the great work!
