mfp017-35px.gifLuka & Lazo - MidEvil Disko EP (12")
label . Mo's Ferry
Release date . October 2005

After Dapayk & Padberg's highly anticipated full length "Close up" Mo's Ferry is back with a charming 12" by croatian producers Luka & Lazo (Luka Cipek + Ivica Lazarevic) delivering a sublime blend of blissful, subtle rhythms and more straight forward (truly dancefloor orientated) structures. At first glance "MidEvil Disco" seems to showcase two different personalities and approaches - a first one with crisp and dense downtempo grooves full of analogue warmth and poetry while the 2nd one is more moving, tough almost uncompromising.

The title track comes along as a beautiful touching piece - combining crisp, yet swinging beats with an amazing microcosm of foundsounds and fractured sampling. Also "Chapter 53" flows with this gentle yet surprisingly fusion of sensualized and playful grooves and distorted sonic particles - forming an intensive, seductive and personal musically statement.
"Eon" on the flipside delivers a more floorfreindly version of the same theme, melting crisp hi-hats and clicks with a kicking bassdrum that pushes the track forward. "Cultfather" continues with a much straighter arrangement - fusing pulsing patterns, noisy effects and a pumping bassline that turns the track into a catchy and infectious floorburner.

Your post Chris is useless as far as commenting on the record. My argument is why post a negative and useless comment like "I'll pass" on a record that's not your style. You bring nothing to the board, it's a waste of your time. I don't mean to start anything, don't take my posts the wrong way, but for the sake of the artist which I honestly don't understand how you wouldn't like this record since you're on a minimal site and this is a minimal record. I think the record is really good, but I guess to each his own. Mind boggling though how some people might not like this, please don't evaluate this mix if you don't like minimal, but like trance and disco house or some other EDM. IMO I don't see anything wrong with it, anyways, whatever.

Take it easy George... Sorry to hurt your feelings.
the sound samples are there for anyone to check out, and with so many sites posting sound samples these days, most people 'try before they buy' so i highly doubt that folks are writing this one off based on my comment. It's my opinion and you have yours.
I just didn't find the tracks much different than other things out there. they sound very well produced, but i feel that I have many similar records so I'll pass on this one.

Hey Chris, hey George...
Just like to calm down the things a bit. Truely anybody is invited to leave his comments on published reviews and features, and surely taste is always a personal/subjective thing (as boring, if it were not like that...)
So let's try to keep our feedback as objective as possible, and please keep in mind that these reviews are just a result of my persoanl research. And if you don't like one of the featured records/projects just leave it for those who are interested... Thanks.
Btw: I really appreciate "MidEvil Disko" - exspecially the a-side - thats why this 12" found it's place at minlove; and I'm looking forward to Luka & Lazo's contribution to Leftroom's 1st release that 'll be out in december i think...
Peace... Christian

Anybody who passes on this record is a fool like the previous guy who posted that stupid comment IMHO. If you don't like something keep your comments to yourself, don't ruin it for the rest of people who might not know who they are and are wanting to read comments by people who do know and are curious to know what they're about. That's a perfect example on how really underappreciated and unkown Luka & Lazo are in the minimal scene. They have a very distinct sound unlike any other typical minimal producers. Their Fat Mama Roks and their Leftroom stuff is no exception to how good these guys are so this brand new release is sure to be a killer. For anybody who doesn't know about this duo, give them a listen and check em out. Any fans of Butane, [a]pendis Shuffle, Bruno Pronsato and S-Max will not be dissapointed.

I'll pass on this one.
