"Eyepennies" is the second full length release by scandinavian artist Folie on Mikael Stavöstrand's Mitek imprint. After his critically acclaimed debut album "Mispass" from 2002, he surprises with an engaging masterpiece between dub, minimal and electronica up to fragments of textural ambience - that is hard to pinpoint and yet occupying a sonic niche of its very own. Creating a tension between abstraction and harmonically rich intensity, "Eyepennies" builds a bridge between a great diversity of sonic fragments while adding a unique charm and intimacy to the sound.
In structural and aesthetic terms this full length provides a convincing balance between more cautios anthems, that seem to be more suitable for headphone listening or an intimate club than the dancefloor - and slightly twisted more driving cuts, all covered by simultaneously calculated and lively rhythmic patterns.
