level05-35px.jpgAntonelli Electr. - Laziness EP (12")
label . level records
release date . october 2005

Antonelli Electr.'s "Laziness EP" is by now the 5th release on Daniel Fritschi's Level Records imprint and enchants with that intriguing emotional depth that the Düsseldorf based producer (well known for his releases on Italic) constantly brings forth to his sound. This 4tracker is the first output of Antonelli after two 12" releases in early summer and more than a year after his "Original Dimensions" full length (released on A Touch of Class under his Repeat Orchestra moniker) - and as front- and backside of the fullcover may imply - this record has undeniable different and defined sides (at least two) and seems to be equipped with an obvious touch of irony.

"Dusty" combines acoustic percussion lines covering a straight forward bassdrum and flatterig chords - creating an undeniable 'house-touch' that may sound slightly antiquated, but who cares? This is the good old stuff, straight from the heart - created and re-created lovingly.
"Slipstream" follows the opening track with additional calm and depth while "Snowflake Funk" on the flipside surprises with a microcosm of ticking and detuned particles that seems to unfold in an almost unrestrained manner. "Laziness" - both closing and title track, enraptures the listener with a non bassdrum driven anthem full of subtle clicks and pops embedded into a trembling grid of slow permutating noise drones. Finally, a highly varied 12" exploring different terrains of minimal techno - ranging from more floor friendly beats through to the deeper realms of abstraction.

It's nice to see a new release from those responsible for the a touch of class/repeat orchestra releases. I still have at least one of those in the record box at all times. OPINION ALERT: I like this one a lot better than the full length. Interesting concept, dreamy tones, not too tracky. It's on the list
