Microcosm Music is based in New York City and was established in early 2004. It was the brainchild of Jakob Haglof, who runs Aesthetic Parcel design, and Ezekiel Honig, who acts as the label manager and A&R.
Microcosm is more concerned with the feel of the music than genre per se, with specific variations of minimal and quirky techno, textural ambience, and electro-acoustic compositions.

The emphasis is on personality and trying new ways of working within modern minimal music, whether it be an amalgamation of influences, moving in between traditional genre lines, or the found sound forms lending individuality to the artist’s work.

The visual aesthetic is an integral part of the label and contributes just as much to each release as the music, with most of the design work helmed by Aesthetic Parcel, usually incorporating hand drawn characters and landscapes with a unique feel and composition all their own. The graphics lend even more of a personal nature to each project. This goes hand in hand with Microcosm’s mission of presenting a complete audio/visual package, strong on concept, but keenly aware of the listener and the importance of the content.

Thanks for this brief showcase and the exciting netrelease- did'nt know Microcosm before I discovered your excellent website. Browsed the Microcosm stuff on their site - awesome stuff - fresh, diverse and not as static as the european output. Like it a lot. -- Keep on the good work!
