Am/Pm + Lump - Local Time (12")
label . sud electronic
release date . june 2005

Süd Electronic returns with a split ep by am/pm and Süd regular, lump.
The ep kicks off with newcomer to Süd, Radovan Scasascia under his am/pm disguise. The swiss born, London based artist, has allready been winning fans all over with his output as am/pm or secondo, on his very own dreck records imprint.

with local time the listener is subtetly seduced into am/pm's intriguing ability to combine contemporary electronic music, with some beautiful conceptual composition. There is an obssesive fascination with technique and microscopic detail, evident here, but am/pm achieves this, without ever falling victim to over analysis or arid academic aspiration. local time is a beautiful, spacious & cinematic sojourn.

foolish thing to do on the other hand incorporates all of the above and more. A jagernaut of a track with melody, synthy elements, an acid bassline. With foolish thing to do am/pm manages to cross reference so many elements of the past , with such ease , whilst maintaining a very contemporary take .

lump's contribution on this ep, is as equally delightful.
With prime dillemma, lump creates a wonderful atmosphere, layered with a nostalgic nordic sensibility reminiscent of childhood summers in his native Finland. This is a subtle melodic offering wrapped in his trademark granulated noises, under a hint of a 4/4 subbass. happy droid then follows, with its granulated noises crackling away over the 4/4 with a funked up sub bass adding the swing and minimally grooving underneath, the track is built and dissected with perfect precision, with minimal synths dotted around the 4/4 and a subtle melody to die for!
A split ep that will keep you enthralled!

format : 12 " split ep
