Dave Miller - Mitchells Raccolta (LP)
label . background records
release date . mai 2005
Over two years since releasing his first fantastic EP's on Background Records and remixing Anna Kaufen (aka Akufen) to much critical acclaim, Dave Millers long-awaited debut album is finally being released! Coming from the most isolated city in the world, Perth, Australia, the album is a massive step forward musically - a combination of all his influences to create a fresh, deep and truly personal album.

Trademark pitch-shifted melodies buzz over complex minimal polyrhythms, chopped up trumpet scatters over a slo-mo house beat, and low, low basslines hum in the bassbins over a crackly piano sample - it is a diverse album full of warmth fit for the lounge and rhythms to suit a dark, smoky club.
The tracks beautiful, mutant funk that you feel with your head, heart and feet. It is jazz, dub, house, minimalism, hip-hop, broken beat, and ambient music all at the same time, but one generic genre, it isn't. Like Four Tet, Farben and Madlib remixing each other, he is genre-hopping to create a new genre. 6 years after the 'minimal house' emerged from the clicks'n'cuts phenomenon, has Dave created the first 'minimal broken beat' record?
